Optimization of energy footprint and performance of RO for water reuse and desalination
Optimization of energy footprint and performance of RO for water reuse and desalination

Overview:

Desalination is a recurrent term in our time. In fact, it is a technology that has gone through a huge development since its apparition, and today it is a reliable water treatment technique that allows producing drinking water from oceans. The objective is to improve the energy efficiency of the system in order to save on operation costs as well as reduce the carbon and ecological footprints. Reverse osmosis membranes with higher surface area have lower energy consumption, as well as energy recovery systems to recover the brine pressure and introduce it in the system. Accounting for the operation, maintenance and handling of the membranes is also important in energy savings, in order to improve the energy efficiency. The energy consumption depends on the permeate water quality required and the model of the reverse osmosis membrane installed in the seawater desalination plant.

Outlines:

  • Reverse Osmosis Fundamentals.

  • Desalination Plant Operation and Performance Monitoring.

  • Source Water Quality Characterization.

  • Impact of fouling.

  • RO System – Operation and Performance Monitoring.
  • Troubleshooting and Optimization of Plant Operations.
  • Energy recovery device.

Targeted:

Utility engineers, environmental engineers, consulting engineers, technologists, technicians, chemists, Design engineers and operating personnel or anyone requiring a working level knowledge of the theory and practice of reverse osmosis plants.
