Overview

Upon completing this Program, Trainees will be able to describe and discuss the functions of all sections of a reverse osmosis (RO) plant and explain the principles of water desalination. 

Outcomes

• Evaluate the principles of Reverse Osmosis and its application in water desalination, considering factors such as water quality, membrane selection, and energy efficiency.
• Analyze the fundamental concepts of osmosis and explain how they relate to the Reverse Osmosis process for water treatment.
• Compare different types of membranes used in Reverse Osmosis systems, considering their characteristics, performance, and suitability for desalination applications.
• Design a pretreatment filtration system for feed water in a Reverse Osmosis plant, focusing on factors such as particle removal, scaling prevention, and membrane protection.

• Assess the importance of energy recovery devices in improving the efficiency and sustainability of Reverse Osmosis plants and suggest ways to optimize energy usage in water desalination processes.
